Inferring social networks from physical interactions: a feasibility study
نویسندگان
چکیده
Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to present a prototype system that can be used to capture longitudinal socialising processes by recording people’s encounters in space. Design/methodology/approach – The paper presents the results of a longitudinal study, carried out with members of the public, which demonstrates the capabilities of the system. Findings – The findings show that community structure can be inferred from physical interactions, and that different locations exhibit varying community structures. Originality/value – The paper argues that such a system can usefully be deployed in environments where people interact and socialise, as a mechanism for inferring the underlying network structure of those people’s relationships.

Prediction of user's trustworthiness in web-based social networks via text mining
In Social networks, users need a proper estimation of trust in others to be able to initialize reliable relationships. Some trust evaluation mechanisms have been offered, which use direct ratings to calculate or propagate trust values. However, in some web-based social networks where users only have binary relationships, there is no direct rating available. Therefore, a new method is required t...
متن کاملAssessing Wellness by Sensing Everyday Activities and Interactions
In this paper, we describe our vision of using wearable sensors to simultaneously track people’s physical and social activities. We believe this will enable us to assess the overall well-being of individuals more easily. We present our initial work in capturing and modeling the social network, interactions, and physical activities automatically using multi-modal sensors. INTRODUCTION The overal...

The research method is survey and a questionnaire is used in ...
متن کاملInferring Interaction Networks using the IBP applied to microRNA Target Prediction
Determining interactions between entities and the overall organization and clustering of nodes in networks is a major challenge when analyzing biological and social network data. Here we extend the Indian Buffet Process (IBP), a nonparametric Bayesian model, to integrate noisy interaction scores with properties of individual entities for inferring interaction networks and clustering nodes withi...
